Thailand Sailing Holiday, Sailing in Thailand

Sailing in Thailand – Captain’s Log

Prologue

I had a feeling about Thailand…you know…like it was calling for me…I dreamed about sailing in Thailand and wished more than anything to sail its waters… And it happened! The result? Well…I fell in love with her…with its people, with its food, landscapes, sea…even the tide! It’s that kind of destination where the time stands still, and you’re a happy “prisoner” of the islands, of it’s white beaches, hidden caves…the sea…

Sailing in Thailand didn’t fail to rise to our expectations and even go far beyond. It’s a destination where time seems to stand still, leaving you in a dream state, entranced by the islands, the white beaches and the mesmerizing blue sea. We had a smooth flight, with a “short” stop in Beijing, and after an another 6 hours flight, we finally landed in “The Land of Smiles”…

Phuket…

Our first stop was Phuket – Ambling through the streets and admiring the stunning architecture, we are transported somewhere around the 1920s. The air was colonial, the people were relaxed. Expect to see everyone with umbrellas and hats, and on the brim – a cigar, obviously! And then a whiff of a sublime smell hits you. You stop, open the menu, and order something mysterious. You’d like to order everything off the menu, because it all looks fantastic! And there’s no use in describing the taste, because the written word won’t do the flavours justice, not even poetry can try to describe it. You’ll just have to try it. The mango and sticky rice is to die for, and given the fact that this heavenly dish is considered a ‘traditional dessert’, you know you’ve just landed in the closest thing to paradise on the map.

…to be continued…
