Sicily Sailing Holidays – Points of Interest

Portorosa

The first stop of the sailing vacation on will be on the ‘mainland’ of Sicily – in the Portorosa Marina, which is located in the third largest city on the island of Sicily, Messina. Messina is a melting pot of cultures, being shaped by its history from its founding by the Greeks, through Goth, Arab and Norman conquests to become a unique jewel of the mediterranean.

Lipari

Lipari is the largest and the most densely populated of the Aeolian Islands. Lipari town is a bustling city with picturesque streets, great restaurants and a vibrant local population that can lives like it can still feel the deep rumbles of the volcanoes that their city was built upon.

Panarea

Panarea is the quintessential gem of a mediterranean island. A small piece of heaven on earth, with crystal clear blue waters, elegant bougainvillaea trimmed villages, and some of the best nightlife in Sicily. This tiny speck of volcanic rock is a 24 hour destination, being kept awake by the energy that its beauty elicits in anyone that steps ashore.

Stromboli

The powerhouse of the Aeolian Islands, Stromboli towers in ominous beauty. The volcano on the top of the island has been in an almost constant eruption for the last 2000 years, bubbling up in spectaculous arcs of fire and smoke every hour. On our sailing holiday in Sicily, you’ll be toasting to the frequent bursts of spectacular, gushing lava from the comfort of the deck.

Salina

Salina is the best kept secret of the Aeolians, and the rhythm of life here feels like it’s been the same for millennia. Though one of the most beautiful of the islands, Salina has kept the soul of old Sicily alive, and has been mostly spared by luxury tourism. On our sailing holiday in Sicily, here we’ll connect to the simple and pure part of what it means to live like a mediterranean.

Vulcano

Fuelling everything from ancient mythology to the fantasy of modern day visitors, the smoking crater of Vulcano is a sight to behold. It’s also its main attraction, as many brave the steep incline for a chance at the breathtaking views from above. Being so close to the molten heart of the earth is an experience unique to Sicily, that can’t be missed, and won’t be missed on our sailing holiday.

No, sailing experience is not required to go on a sailing holiday with us. But, if you wish to sail yourself, our skippers will be more than happy to teach you the basics of sailing.

We provide the suggested itineraries in our sailing event, but because everyone is different we can adapt the itinerary to your specific request.

Absolutely. A sailing holiday is great for children of all ages. We are visiting different ports and islands every day and there’s always something going on. Our skippers enjoy showing the kids the ropes and even let them get behind the helm for a bit of sailing! We will provide children with life jackets and safety harnesses, as well as netting completely the sailboat. It’s a very safe environment.

Depending on what you wish, you will be eating on the boat during the day and go for dinner in the evenings. Anyway, food and drinks need to be organised separately. You, as a crew, will also need to take care of your skipper. You need to have enough food and drinks on board for the skipper to eat and drink during the day and in the evening.

Plane tickets and transfers to the marina are not included. But, if you wish, we could take care of the entire package for you.

Seasickness is very rare and there seem to be good options, from medicine to seasickness wristbands.

Provide the skipper with food and drinks while you are on holiday…he is the one that will TAKE YOU PLACES YOU’VE NEVER BEEN and WILL SHOW YOU THINGS YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN…
