Sailing Holidays Ionian Islands – Points of Interest

Lefkas – Famous all over the world for the exotic beaches, Lefkada island is a fabulous place to visit for summer vacations in Greece.  A lush, green island with an amazing landscape, beautiful beaches and paradise-like turquoise waters. The island is surrounded by many stunning satellite islands which can be explored by yacht.

Vathi, Ithaca – The home of the legendary Greek hero Odysseus, Ithaca really is the jewel in the crown of the Ionian islands and a place where you can feel the ancient myths come alive. The capital of Ithaca is constructed around a large bay and has a lovely port promenade with fish taverns and cafeterias.

Fiskardo – Tiny, precious Fiskardo, on the North East coast of Kefalonia Island, was the only Kefalonian village left largely intact after the 1953 earthquake. Its fine Venetian buildings, framed by cypress-mantled hills, have an authentic picturesque appeal and it’s popular with sailors. The outstanding restaurants and chilled-out feel might entice you to stay longer than just a single night.

Sami – is the main ferry port on the E coast of the island and has a sheltered harbour protected by breakwaters with berths for around 30-35 visiting yachts. The west quay is where most yachts usually berth as it has the greatest number of space.  From here it is possible to visit the Cave of Melissani, an underground lake fed by a subterranean stream which flows all the way across the island from Argostoli.

Sivota – Sivota is a gem. Located on the South East of Lefkada Island, this picturesque harbour has a range of tavernas and bars circling a long concrete quay. Difficult to spot from the sea, Sivota opens up into a well sheltered harbour. It’s best to visit mid-week when the pesky flotillas are congregating elsewhere.

Navagio Beach –  if the weather will allow us, we will sail further south to Ag. Nikolaos for the night and take the trip to Navagio first thing in the morning, before all other commercial small boats.

No, sailing experience is not required to go on a sailing holiday with us. But, if you wish to sail yourself, our skippers will be more than happy to teach you the basics of sailing.

We provide suggested itineraries in our sailing event, but because everyone is different we can adapt the itinerary to your specific request

Absolutely. A sailing holiday is great for children of all ages. We are visiting different ports and islands every day and there’s always something going on. Our skippers enjoy showing the kids the ropes and even let them get behind the helm for a bit of sailing! We will provide children with life jackets and safety harnesses, as well as netting completely the sailboat. It’s a very safe environment.

Depending on what you wish, you will be eating on the boat during the day and go for dinner in the evenings. Anyway, food and drinks need to be organised separately. You, as a crew, will also need to take care of your skipper. You need to have enough food and drinks on board for the skipper to eat and drink during the day and in the evening.

Plane tickets and transfers to the marina are not included. But, if you wish, we could take care of the entire package for you.

Seasickness is very rare and there seem to be good options, from medicine to seasickness wristbands.

Provide the skipper with food and drinks while you are on holiday…he is the one that will TAKE YOU PLACES YOU’VE NEVER BEEN and WILL SHOW YOU THINGS YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN
